Frequently Asked Questions

What is Mobile Physical Therapy and Wellness?

Mobile Physical Therapy and Wellness means we come directly to you. That may be your home, place of work, gym, or wherever works best for both you and our Doctor of Physical Therapy.

We are based in The Woodlands, TX and primarily service the neighboring areas, so if you have questions about whether we will come to you, just ask! We may be able to work something out.

Do I need a Physician referral to start Physical Therapy?

No you do not! In Texas, you have “Direct Access” to receive physical therapy services. Which means you can be seen by a Physical Therapist right away without having to see anybody else first. However, Texas does require us to get an order for Physical Therapy after 2 weeks from our initial visit.

We will work with you during this time to make getting the referral / prescription for Physical Therapy as easy as possible, without interrupting your ability to receive treatment.

What is the difference between Physical Therapy and Wellness?

Physical Therapy services are focused on rehabilitation and restoration of function after an injury, illness, surgery, or due to a specific medical condition. The goal is to improve or restore physical movement and function with an individualized plan of care designed by you and your Physical Therapist to best suit your needs and goals. These goals will be achieved by using hands on techniques such as soft tissues mobilization and joint mobilizations, specific and targeted corrective exercise, and modalities such as dry needling.

Wellness and maintenance services are generally focused on preventive care, health promotion, and maintenance. They are typically for individuals who are not experiencing an acute injury or illness, but need some additional help outside of their typical exercises and routine. Wellness services focus more on mobility, corrective and general exercise, functional training, and performance training to allow you to reach your full potential and prevent possible issues in the future.

What will my Initial Evaluation entail?

Your first appointment will include a detailed review of your medical history, lifestyle, symptoms you are experiencing, and goals to achieve with coming to see us. You will also receive an extensive musculoskeletal examination to get to the root of the problem, treatment and exercises to get started feeling better, and discussion regarding a plan of care with your Doctor of Physical Therapy that fits your goals.

Please wear something comfortable, such as athletic clothes, as you will be moving around and performing light exercise.

What if I can’t be seen at my home or office?

That is not a problem. Parkside Physical Therapy and Wellness is partnered with New Life Fitness to allow you to receive Physical Therapy and Wellness services at their facility right here in Creekside Park.

Do you take insurance?

We do not contract with insurance companies. We place our emphasis on our patients/clients and providing truly individualized one-on-one care. Contracting with insurance will hinder Parkside Physical Therapy’s ability to providing the best quality of care, as insurance companies can put unnecessary restrictions and red-tape around what the Physical Therapist is allowed to do and the care they can deliver. We believe your overall health and wellness should be a conversation between YOU and the PHYSICAL THERAPIST, not the insurance company.

Can patient’s submit claims to insurance?

Yes! Parkside Physical Therapy and Wellness is considered an out of network provider for insurance. That means that you can still use your out of network insurance benefits. Parkside Physical Therapy and Wellness can provide you with a Super Bill that contains all of the codes and information necessary for you to submit claims to your insurance.
